Highlight:
Playing Saturday Night at the Thorbecke Plein together with Herman Brood himself. Coverband Marusjka, Luxembourgh op Spui. Mucha Miek with Pablo de Haas.

Gear:
Started with a Yamaha PF10, one of the first FM-synthese keys (thanks Dad). Roland D-10, Roland Sound Canvas SC-55. Marshall Keyboard amp (started to fall apart). Doepfer masterkeyboard LMK4+, EMU Proteus-FX, all traded for EMU ESI-32 Sampler. Yamaha DJX1 'for fun'. Rhodes 73 Mark1, Yamaha S-90. With Atari-STF and DENON DRS610 tapedeck into midi-age.
Now homestudio recording on PC, Delta 66, Cubase SX.

I accidently noticed Walters ad on Diggy.nl end of 2003. Now, after one year, we got a band together, that has a lot of pleasure and ambition in a perfect combination which creates a real Steely Dan sound. That's kicking!

Walter Tromp - bassguitar.

Domicile:
Egmond aan den Hoef

Musical interests:
Symphonic rock, with its great hero's like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Yes, Genesis and Gentle Giant.
Nowadays he is fascinated by Sting, Peter Gabriel, Crowded House. Generally he loves melodious music with nice harmonies. That of course, makes Steely Dan hard to overlook.

Previous bands:
Nightshift from the IJmond, Mayfly from Bergen and The Sting.
Specially this last band has had big succes in the region of North Holland, where self-produced shows and mega-performance at the waagplein formed the highlights.
Last year he has left this band, to fully devote himself to his new challange: the Steely Dan Project.

Instruments:
Walter is a true Do-It-Yourself. Eversince his puberty he plays home-made guitars.
These last years he usually plays a four-string bassguitar and a five-string fretless. There is a fretted vijfstring under construction, but when that project will finish....?
Amplification: all-tube pre-amp by Peavey, poweramp is the HH V200 and the (home-made) boxes contain a 15" and a 12" Eminence speaker.

Why this project:
Walter seeks for a new challange in the Steely Dan Project. The musik of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker offers that plentifull.
It gives a kick to reproduce these brilliant songs together with some fine fellow-musicians. It gives me the chills!!!
