This project wants to be a tribute to Steely Dan, one of the most remarkable bands in the United States.
The music of this band (actually there are only two guys: donald Fagen and Walter Becker) has been recorded by the finest of all american studio-musicians like Jeff Baxter, Denny Diaz, Larry Carlton, Steve Gadd, Bernard Perdie, Dennis Chambers, Wayne Shorter, Chris Potter, Michael McDonald and many more. This fact creates a big challenge and the musicians in the Steely Dan Project find their greatest satisfaction here.
Steely Dan's music is not easy to categorize. One can recognise many influences: rock, reggae and jazzy elements can be found. The arrangements of the Dan's song are very complex. Yet most of the songs sound very accessable.
It is the ambition of the Steely Dan Project to reproduce the music of Fagen and Becker in a way, that does justice to it
and thus to serve the true musiclovers a great evening with a broad selection of the rich repertoire of Steely Dan.
